Functional Woodware for the Kitchen
Serving boards, utensils, and tools cut from heirloom hardwood — objects you will use daily and want to pass down.
The kitchen is where craftsmanship is tested. Objects here are handled every day — cut on, washed, and reached for — so they must be as durable as they are beautiful.
Our kitchen collection is shaped from dense, food-appropriate hardwood and finished with natural, food-safe oils, ready for a lifetime of daily use. These are the pieces that become more beautiful the more they are used.
Boards for serving and preparation
A wooden board is the heart of a kitchen: a surface to prepare on and a stage to serve from. We make serving and cutting boards in solid hardwood — long grazing boards for entertaining, everyday boards sized for the hand, and heavier blocks for real preparation. Each is cut to show the figure of the wood, its edges eased by hand so it feels good to hold and kind to your knives.
Utensils and tools
Spoons, spatulas, servers, and small tools carved and finished by hand. A wooden utensil is gentle on pans and pleasant in the hand and, unlike plastic, it improves with age rather than degrading. We shape each to sit balanced and to last, so the tools you use most become the ones you reach for without thinking.
Chosen for the kitchen
Not every beautiful wood belongs near food. We select dense, close-grained hardwoods that resist moisture and wear, and finish them only with natural, food-safe oils — never plastic lacquer that can chip into food. Density matters here: a harder wood takes the daily knocks of a working kitchen and keeps its surface for decades.
Everyday heirlooms
A good board or utensil is used thousands of times and, cared for simply, outlasts the trends around it. The marks of years of use are not damage but patina — the record of meals made and shared. These are objects a family cooks with, and eventually passes down, a little more beautiful for the years.
The wood we use
Kitchen pieces are worked from the same hardwoods as the rest of our collections, chosen here for density and food-safety: sheesham for its warmth and hardness, oak for its honest, hardwearing grain, and other close-grained woods suited to daily use. Because each board is cut from a single piece of solid timber, no two are alike.
Caring for wooden kitchenware
Hand-wash in warm water, dry promptly, and never soak a wooden piece or put it in the dishwasher. When the wood looks dry or pale, refresh it with a food-safe oil (or a board butter) and let it soak in. That simple ritual keeps a piece watertight, warm in colour, and ready for the next meal for a lifetime.
