Philosophy

We make objects meant to outlive us.

Legnory is a quiet argument for permanence. We shape wood by hand into objects that earn their place in a home, and keep it for generations.

Nothing here is mass-produced. Each piece carries the grain of its tree and the mark of the hands that made it.

True luxury is not what shines on the first day, but what remains beautiful on the ten-thousandth.

The Chess Collection

Where strategy becomes sculpture. Each set is hand-turned from a single species, weighted for the fingertips, and finished to be played for a lifetime, then displayed for the next.

The Workshop

The hand leaves a mark no machine can.

Each piece passes through many hands and many seasons. We do not rush the wood; we let it settle, and only then begin to shape it.

Made by Hand

Four seasons in the making

From standing tree to finished heirloom, every piece moves through the same unhurried ritual. Patience, here, is not a virtue. It is a method.

Selecting mature sheesham timber for its grain and character
Step 01

Selection

Only mature, slow-grown timber is chosen, read for grain, colour, and character.

Step 02

Seasoning

Planks rest for months, air-drying until the wood is stable enough to last generations.

Step 03

Shaping

Joints are cut and fitted by hand, the way fine furniture has always been made.

Step 04

Finishing

Natural oils are worked into the surface, deepening the grain and protecting it for decades.

Sculptural Game Tables

Architecture for leisure. Each table anchors a room the way a sculpture anchors a gallery, built at the scale of a room and finished to the tolerance of a fine instrument.

Materials

The woods we work

Wood is not a material to us; it is a collaborator. We choose each species for how it ages, darkening and softening with the years. No two boards are alike, so no two pieces ever are.

Naturally Unique

Every Piece Is Unique

No two trees grow alike. No two boards carry the same grain. Every Legnory object is, by nature, one of a kind.

Objects made slowly are enjoyed slowly.

Commissions

Your piece, made only for you

A commission is a conversation. Over weeks, we translate an idea into an object made to your exact vision. One design, one owner, one heirloom.

1
Discussing a bespoke wooden commission

Consultation

We begin with your idea: the room, the ritual, the feeling it should hold.

2
Selecting timber for a commission

Wood Selection

Together we choose the species and the very boards, matched for grain and tone.

3
Designing and drafting a bespoke piece

Design

Proportions and detail are refined until the object feels inevitable.

4
Hand-crafting the commissioned piece

Crafting

The piece is shaped entirely by hand, slowly, and without compromise.

5
Finishing the commissioned piece with natural oil

Finishing

Natural oils bring out the depth of the grain and seal it for a lifetime.

6
The finished commission, ready for delivery

Delivery

Your object arrives carefully crated, numbered and signed by its maker.

About Legnory

A quiet act of permanence

Legnory began with a refusal: the refusal to make things that don't last. We take one of the oldest materials on earth and shape it into objects worth keeping.

We work in wood because wood is honest. It carries the memory of the tree, and no two pieces are ever the same.

We make by hand because the hand leaves a warmth you feel before you can name it. A Legnory piece is not made to be replaced, but to be used, cared for, and one day passed on.
